Firefox Better Web with Scroll - Mozilla's new monetization model

On March 24, in a blog post, Mozilla invited Firefox users to take part in testing the “Firefox Better Web with Scroll” service, which is aimed at a new website funding model.

The goal of the project is to be able to use paid subscriptions to finance content creation. This should allow site owners to do without advertising. The service is organized in collaboration with the Scroll project.

The model looks something like this: the user pays a subscription to the service and can view sites that have joined Scroll without advertising. About 70% of the funds received are transferred to site owners (which is 40% more than their usual advertising income).

Testing is currently only available to US users. To become a participant in the program, you need to install a special browser extension.
