Sony's flagship Xperia 5 is a smaller version of the Xperia 1

Sony's flagship smartphones have always been a mixed bag in recent years, especially in the field of built-in cameras. But with the release of the Xperia 1, this trend seems to be changing - our review of this device in comparison with the Huawei P30 Pro, Samsung Galaxy S10 +, Apple iPhone Xs Max and OnePlus 7 Pro can be found in a separate by Viktor Zaikovsky.

And at IFA 2019, the Japanese company presented, as expected, a smaller version of this device under the name Xperia 5 (how Sony chooses names is a mystery). The main innovation is the reduction of the screen diagonal from 6,5 inches to 6,1 inches (the 21:9 ratio is preserved, and the resolution is slightly reduced to 2520 Γ— 1644).

Thanks to this, the width has decreased from 72mm to 68mm (Sony says that this is optimal for holding in the hand), the volume of the device has decreased by 11% and it has become 14 grams lighter. It is still based on the single-chip Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 system with eight CPU cores and Adreno 640 graphics. The amount of RAM, storage and the entire camera subsystem also remained unchanged.
