Samsung's flagship smartphones will again receive Chinese batteries. Last time they appeared in the Galaxy Note 7

Batteries for Samsung's flagship smartphones are currently produced by Samsung's SDI division. However, sometimes third-party batteries are used in the company's devices. According to the latest data, the Galaxy S21 will use batteries from the Chinese company ATL (Amperex Technology Limited, New Energy Technology Co., Ltd.).

Previously, Samsung excluded ATL from the battery supply chain for premium products following a number of incidents with Galaxy Note 7 batteries that spontaneously ignited. In the past few years, the company has supplied batteries for low-end and mid-range Samsung smartphones. Flagship devices are equipped with Samsung SDI and LG Chem batteries. However, now ATL seems to be able to provide the required level of quality.

According to reports, ATL has already begun production of batteries for the flagship Galaxy S21 family. It is reported that the series will include three smartphones, which will be equipped with batteries with a capacity of 4000, 4800 and 5000 mAh. As of 3, ATL ranked third in the world in smartphone battery production, behind only Samsung SDI and LG Chem, according to research firm B2019. At the same time, LG Chem mainly supplies batteries for premium devices.
