The company is currently working on the Kirin 985 chip, which is manufactured on a 7nm process using Extreme Ultraviolet Lithography (EUV). The developers say that the new chip will be 20% more productive than its predecessor. It is also planned to reduce power consumption, which will improve the autonomy of the product. Previously that work on the chip is coming to an end and its mass production may begin in the third quarter of 2019.
The new processor will be the basis for productive smartphones of the Mate 30 series, the announcement of which should take place this fall. Network sources report that Huawei Mate 30 will support fifth-generation communication networks, which means that the Kirin 985 chip will receive a 5G modem modem. This was to be expected, because the Chinese manufacturer has a Balong 5000 modem that supports 5G networks. It is also reported that in parallel with the flagship chip, the Chinese developer plans to launch the production of a successor to the Kirin 710 processor, designed for new mid-range devices.
