The Deputy Director and CTO leave the SPO Fund

Two more employees announced their departure from the Open Source Foundation - John Hsieh, Associate Director, and Ruben Rodriguez, CTO. John joined the foundation in 2016 and prior to that he held leadership positions at non-profit organizations dedicated to social welfare and social justice. Reuben, best known as the founder of the Trisquel distribution, was hired by the Free Software Foundation in 2015 as a system administrator, after which he became a CTO. Earlier, John Sullivan, executive director of the Free Software Foundation, also announced his departure from the Free Software Foundation.

In their joint statement, Sullivan, Shay and Rodriguez indicated that they continue to believe in the importance of the mission of the Free Software Foundation and believe that the new team will be better able to handle the proposed management reform. According to them, free software and copyleft are among the critical issues of our time and the Free Software Foundation must continue to lead the free software movement, so the common goal of all staff is to ensure a smooth transition and support the necessary modernization of the fund's management processes.

Additionally, it can be noted that the number of signatories of the letter in support of Stallman gained 4567 signatures, and the letter against Stallman was signed by 2959 people. Aaron Bassett, an anti-Stallman activist, has begun promoting a special Chrome add-on that displays a special label when opening GitHub repositories of developers who have signed a support letter to Stallman.
