We are talking about the formation of a space system for remote sensing of the Earth (ERS). Data from such satellites will be in demand by a variety of government departments and commercial entities.

Using information received from remote sensing satellites, for example, it is possible to analyze the socio-economic development of regions, track the dynamics of changes in environmental management, subsoil use, construction and ecology, collection of land and property taxes, and also solve other problems.

“The first launch using the Smotr system is planned for late 2023 - early 2024,” the GKS company said.

It is expected that by 2035 the new satellite constellation will consist of four devices.

It is planned to use Soyuz launch vehicles to launch satellites. The launches will be carried out from the Vostochny and Baikonur cosmodromes.
