The US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has released a stunning image of spiral galaxy ESO 021-G004.

The named object is located at a distance of approximately 130 million light years from us in the constellation Chameleon. The presented image clearly shows the structure of the galaxy, resembling a giant cosmic whirlpool.

The ESO 021-G004 galaxy has an active core, in which processes are taking place, accompanied by the release of a large amount of energy. Moreover, such emissions are not explained by the activity of individual stars and gas-dust complexes.

It is noted that at the center of ESO 021-G004 is likely to be a supermassive black hole. The mass of such structures varies from 106 to 109 solar masses.

The presented image was transmitted to Earth from the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope. To obtain the image, the Wide Field Camera 3 instrument, the most technologically advanced instrument of the space observatory, was used.
