As part of the “image of the week” rubric, another beautiful image of outer space has been published on the website of the NASA / ESA Hubble Space Telescope.
This time, the object NGC 7773 is captured. It is a barred spiral galaxy, which is located in the constellation Pegasus (the constellation of the northern hemisphere of the starry sky).
In the published image, the captured galaxy looks like a giant cosmic eye. The photograph clearly shows the key elements that are inherent in barred spiral galaxies.
This, in particular, is a bridge of bright stars that crosses the galaxy in the middle. It is at the ends of this "bar" that spiral branches begin.
It should be noted that barred spiral galaxies are quite numerous. Studies show that our Milky Way is also an object of this type.
