The InSight probe, or Interior Exploration using Seismic Investigations, Geodesy and Heat Transport, was sent to the Red Planet about a year ago. The spacecraft successfully landed on Mars in November 2018.

The main tasks of InSight are the study of the internal structure and processes occurring in the thickness of the Martian soil. The probe performs these works using instruments placed on the surface of the planet - the SEIS (Seismic Experiment for Interior Structure) seismometer and the HP (Heat Flow and Physical Properties Probe) tool.

Of course, the device is equipped with cameras. One of them - Instrument Deployment Camera (IDC) - is installed on the manipulator, which was used to install instruments on the surface of Mars. It was this camera that received the published photos.

The pictures show sunrise and sunset on Mars. Some images have undergone computer processing: experts have shown how the human eye would see the Martian landscape.

The photo was taken at the end of April. Higher resolution photos can be found here
