Foxconn Ready to Start Production of iPhone X and iPhone XS in India

Network sources report that Apple is preparing to expand the production of its own products in India. If models such as the iPhone 6S, iPhone SE and iPhone 7 are already being built in the country, then the launch of the production of flagship devices should be considered as an important event.

Foxconn intends to organize trial production, which will be deployed at a factory located in Chennai. This approach will help Apple avoid import duties, as well as bring the manufacturer closer to opening more branded outlets in India. The fact is that according to the country's legislation, at least 30% of local suppliers must participate in the formation of a retail network, so the opening of flagship production in India will play into the hands of Apple.

According to Bloomberg, at present, the share of Apple smartphones shipped to India is only 1%. Attempts to conquer the world's second largest market continue, and last year Apple sold about 1,7 million smartphones in the country. The leading position here is occupied by the Chinese company Xiaomi, whose products look attractive due to more reasonable prices. Creating local production will allow Apple to make its own products cheaper, which may attract potential buyers.

The expansion of production looks like a deliberate move amid the ongoing US-China trade war. The factory that produces Apple's flagships in India will allow the manufacturer to avoid losses in the event of growing tensions with China. It is also reported that Foxconn plans to allocate about $ 300 million for the organization of the initial production of the iPhone. If nothing interferes with the manufacturer's plans, then capacity will be increased in the future.
