Foxconn said Friday it remains committed to its contract to build an LCD panel plant and research and development center in Wisconsin. The Taiwanese company's announcement came days after the state's governor, Tony Evers, who took office in January, announced his intention to renegotiate the terms of the deal.

Having inherited a deal from his predecessor to give Foxconn $4 billion in tax breaks and other incentives, Ivers said Wednesday he plans to renegotiate the deal as the firm is expected to fall short of its commitment to creating jobs in the state.

Foxconn, Apple's largest contract partner, previously promised to eventually create 13 jobs in Wisconsin through construction of the plant and R&D center, but said this year it had slowed its hiring pace.
