According to Taiwan's Economic Daily News, Foxconn is currently busy developing microLED technology for future iPhone smartphones from its largest contract partner, Apple.

Foxconn develops microLED technology for future Apple iPhone smartphones

Unlike the OLED screens used in the iPhone X and iPhone XS models, as well as the Apple Watch smartwatch, microLED technology does not require the use of organic compounds, so panels based on it are not subject to burn-in and gradual decrease in brightness over time. At the same time, like OLED screens, microLED panels do not need backlighting, while providing images with rich colors and high contrast.

It's only natural that Apple would also want to implement this technology in its flagship iPhone models, and the publication of Foxconn's interest in developing microLED panels confirms this intention. However, one should hardly expect the appearance of microLED screens for smartphones in mass production in the near future, since the completion of work on this project by the Taiwanese manufacturer can be expected only in the medium term.
