The fourth release of the stable/11 branch of the FreeBSD operating system, 11.3-RELEASE, has been announced.
Binary builds are available for the following architectures: amd64, i386, powerpc, powerpc64, sparc64, armv6, and aarch64.
Some of the innovations in the base system:
- LLVM components (clang, lld, lldb and related runtime libraries) have been updated to version 8.0.0.
- The toolkit for working with ELF files has been updated to version r3614.
- OpenSSL has been updated to version 1.0.2s.
- libzfs has added an algorithm for parallel (multi-threaded) mounting of file systems (used by default with the zfs mount -a command, to mount in one thread, you must set the ZFS_SERIAL_MOUNT environment variable).
- loader(8) supports geli(8) on all architectures.
- When a process exits, it is logged with its jail(8) ID.
In ports/packages:
- pkg(8) has been updated to version 1.10.5.
- KDE has been updated to version 5.15.3.
- GNOME has been updated to version 3.28.
