It looks like the FSP Hydro PTM+ 1200W power supply, which can be included in a liquid cooling system, has proven to be a very popular solution. In any case, the manufacturer decided to introduce another power supply with the possibility of liquid cooling. They became the Hydro PTM + 850W model, which has less power, and at the same time is cheaper.
Thanks to the cooling system designed by Bitspower, the FSP Hydro PTM+ 850W power supply can be included in the liquid cooling circuit. Of course, the novelty also has a 135 mm fan, which allows you to use it as a regular power supply, without connecting to the LSS circuit, with a rated power.
However, connecting to the LSS circuit increases the cooling efficiency of the device and allows you to βsqueezeβ more power out of it. So, if the nominal power of the new PSU is 850 W, then when using liquid cooling, the FSP Hydro PTM + 850W is able to provide more than 1000 W, and without any consequences for its technical condition. We also note that at a load below half the nominal (up to 425 W), the novelty can be cooled passively.
The FSP Hydro PTM+ 850W power supply is highly efficient (over 92%) and 80 Plus Platinum compliant. Here, an active power factor correction scheme (Active PFC above 0,9) is used. The manufacturer also notes the use of a single +12 V line, the use of high-quality Japanese capacitors, as well as a modular design. Not without customizable RGB lighting. There are protection systems against overload, overheating, short circuit, overvoltage and output surges.
FSP has already started selling its new product. The recommended price for the Hydro PTM+ 850W is $400. The 1200W model sells for $600.
