Fujifilm launches Windows app that turns a camera into a webcam

Better late than never. The Japanese company Fujifilm picked up the initiative Canon on turning a digital camera into a webcam. Due to self-isolation, webcams sold like hot cakes on a frosty day. Manufacturers of digital cameras began to move towards citizens, releasing utilities for connecting cameras to a PC and organizing video communication using improvised means.

Like the EOS Webcam Utility, released at the end of April, the Fujifilm X Webcam application, which is similar in purpose, is designed to work under the Windows 10 x64 operating system. You can download the utility from this link, and a list of compatible mirrorless camera models from the company can be found at this link (maybe it will expand, so it makes sense to follow the updates). In the meantime, the utility supports the following models of Fujifilm X and GFX cameras: GFX100, GFX 50S, GFX 50R, X-H1, X-Pro2, X Pro3, X-T2, X-T3 or X-T4.

After installing the utility, one of the above camera models is connected to a free USB port on the computer and can be found as an option in one of the video call applications.

Compared to relatively simple webcams, Fujifilm's mirrorless digital cameras will provide much better image quality, and the use of interchangeable lenses will pave the way for effective imaging. The application presented by the company is free and free to download without registration.
