Funkwhale is a project that allows you to listen and share music within an open decentralized network.
Funkwhale is made up of many independent modules that can "talk" to each other using open source technology. The network is not associated with any corporation or organization, which gives users some independence and choice.
The user can join to an existing module, or Create your own, where you can upload your personal music library, and then share with any of the users. It is possible to interact with users (regardless of which module they have joined) both through the web interface and through compatible apps for different platforms. You can also search by track titles and artists.
The ability to record and download podcasts is currently in development, but there are plans to integrate with existing podcast apps.
