At the gamescom 2019 opening ceremony on the evening of August 19, Port Royale 4 was unexpectedly announced. Publisher Kalypso Media and developer Gaming Minds presented a trailer in which a barrel of rum was lucky to overcome various vicissitudes of the journey and reach the island. Apparently, this location will be the starting one in the game.
In the opening seconds of the trailer, two people make a deal and the drink is transferred to the ship's hold. For some time he stands there, as can be judged by the change of day and night. The ship is then attacked, sounds of battle and cannon fire are heard. One core flew dangerously close to the rum, the barrel was outside, turned over several times and continued its journey already in the water. In the end, she washed up on the island, where she was taken by an unnamed inhabitant. In the meantime, the camera moved away and we were shown the construction of the settlement in an accelerated mode.
The trailer was accompanied by perky pirate music, which hints at the return of the series to its roots. And this is not the only strategy that was announced at the opening ceremony. The audience was also shown и — a new project from the developers of Endless Space.
Port Royale 4 will be released in 2020 on PC, PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch, the exact date is still unknown.
