GeForce GTX 1660 Super tested in Final Fantasy XV: between GTX 1660 and GTX 1660 Ti

With the release date approaching GeForce GTX 1660 Super, that is, on October 29, the number of leaks regarding them is also growing. This time, a well-known online source with the pseudonym TUM_APISAK found an entry about testing the GeForce GTX 1660 Super in the Final Fantasy XV benchmark database.

And the upcoming new product from NVIDIA in terms of performance was between its closest "relatives" - GeForce GTX 1660 and GeForce GTX 1660 Ti, closer to the latter. In general, this was quite expected, because in terms of technical characteristics, which have long been known, the GeForce GTX 1660 Super is not that far gone from the regular GeForce GTX 1660 and clearly could not get ahead of the GeForce GTX 1660 Ti.

The key, and perhaps the only difference between the Super-version of the GTX 1660 and the usual one is the faster GDDR6 memory, which replaced GDDR5. The amount of memory will remain the same - 6 GB with a 192-bit bus. Actually, the configuration of the GPU will not change either - 1408 CUDA cores and frequencies of 1530/1785 MHz.

According to all forecasts, the GeForce GTX 1660 Super will be about 10% faster than the regular GeForce GTX 1660, and the largest increase will be in tasks where memory bandwidth is important. True, in the case of the Final Fantasy XV test presented above, the increase turned out to be higher, but as you know, this benchmark is not distinguished by its accuracy. We will be able to fully evaluate the novelties in less than a week.
