Germany allows Intel to test Mobileye self-driving cars on public roads

Germany allows Intel to test Mobileye self-driving cars on public roads

The Israeli company Mobileye was bought by Intel in 2017 year for an unprecedented amount of $15,3 billion in the field of automatic driver assistance systems. The microprocessor manufacturer made a bet on self-driving cars and is sure that it did not lose. Mobileye's success appears to be impressive. Over the past year, the company has begun testing self-driving cars in France, Japan, Korea and Israel. The launch of testing in Germany was the icing on the cake, because it is the heart of the most advanced automotive industry in the world.

The permit issued by TÜV Süd will allow Mobileye to launch self-driving cars on all German roads from cities to villages and on autobahns at speeds up to 130 km/h. However, while cars with autopilots Mobileye will be accompanied by drivers who monitor the safety of driving. But this does not detract from the success of Mobileye in Germany, since so far self-driving cars in this country have only been tested in specially created zones for this purpose.

With the completion of Mobileye's self-driving car trial in Munich, the trips will be expanded nationwide. Moreover, before the end of this year, the company plans to launch large-scale testing of autopilots on public roads in other European countries. All this promises to lead to the fact that in three years the car without a driver on the road will become commonplace, which will radically change the experience of traveling by car.
