Recall that the PCIe 4.0 specification was published at the end of 2017. Compared to PCIe 3.0, this standard doubles throughput from 8 to 16 GT/s (gigatransactions per second). Thus, the data transfer rate for one line is about 2 GB/s.

GIGABYTE will showcase the world's first PCIe 2 M.4.0 SSD at the upcoming COMPUTEX Taipei 2019 from May 28 to June 1.

So far, there is not much information about the product. It is only noted that the device provides read and write speeds of 5000 MB / s on the latest AMD platform.

The drive is aimed primarily at content creators and users working with "heavy" graphic materials of the highest quality.

Note that earlier GIGABYTE added support for the PCI Express 4.0 interface to some motherboards with an AMD Socket AM4 connector. You can find out more about this in our material
