The USB 3.2 Gen 2Γ—2 standard provides throughput up to 20 Gbps. This is double the maximum data transfer rate that USB 3.1 Gen 2 is capable of (10 Gbps).

The new GIGABYTE product is called GC-USB 3.2 GEN2X2. Installing an expansion card requires a PCIe x4 slot on the desktop or workstation motherboard.

The product has a single-slot design. The mounting plate provides only one symmetrical USB Type-C port based on the USB 3.2 Gen 2Γ—2 standard. It is said that it is backward compatible with USB 2.0/3.0/3.1 interfaces.

The card is built using GIGABYTE Ultra Durable technology, which uses only high-quality components to ensure reliability and long service life.

Unfortunately, there is no information about the price of GC-USB 3.2 GEN2X2.

It should also be noted that already is being prepared USB4 standard, which provides for further increases in bandwidth. The data transfer speed will increase to 40 Gbps, that is, twice as compared to USB 3.2 Gen 2Γ—2. By the way, USB4 is actually Thunderbolt 3, as it is based on its protocol. Let us remind you that the Thunderbolt 3 standard allows you to transfer data at a speed of 40 Gbps.
