GIGABYTE Technology has announced what it claims is the world's first PCIe expansion card to support USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 high-speed interface.
The USB 3.2 Gen 2Γ2 standard provides throughput up to 20 Gbps. This is double the maximum data transfer rate that USB 3.1 Gen 2 is capable of (10 Gbps).
The new GIGABYTE product is called GC-USB 3.2 GEN2X2. Installing an expansion card requires a PCIe x4 slot on the desktop or workstation motherboard.
The product has a single-slot design. The mounting plate provides only one symmetrical USB Type-C port based on the USB 3.2 Gen 2Γ2 standard. It is said that it is backward compatible with USB 2.0/3.0/3.1 interfaces.
The card is built using GIGABYTE Ultra Durable technology, which uses only high-quality components to ensure reliability and long service life.
Unfortunately, there is no information about the price of GC-USB 3.2 GEN2X2.
