Gears of War Franchise Executive and The Coalition Studio Head Rod Fergusson in my microblog announced his imminent departure from the company. Blizzard Entertainment will become a new place of employment for the developer.

“I started Gears of War over 15 years ago and the series has been a joy to me ever since. But now it's time for a new adventure. I leave Gears in the good hands of [staff] The Coalition and can't wait for everyone to play Gears Tactics on April 28, ”Fergusson said.

Fergusson's move to Blizzard Entertainment, where the developer will take over the Diablo franchise, will take place in March: "It's a bittersweet departure because I love our Gears family, the fans, and everyone at The Coalition and Xbox. Thank you, it was an honor to work with you."

In October 2019, former corporate vice president of Xbox Mike YbarraMike Ybarra also moved to Blizzard Entertainment. There he took the position of executive vice president and general manager.

As for Fergusson, he joined the development of the first part of Gears of War in 2005. In 2014 Microsoft bought the rights to the franchise from Epic Games, and Ferguson moved to Black Tusk Studios (former name The Coalition), where he became the head of the series.

The last part of Gears of War to date is called Gears 5. The game was released in September 2019 on PC (Steam, Microsoft Store) and Xbox One. The project became most successful for Xbox within the current generation of consoles.
