On the forum Reddit a user under the nickname Briansey shared a screenshot of a post by Gearbox Software CEO Randy Pitchford on Twitter. The head announced the film adaptation of the Borderlands series and promised to tell more details at PAX East 2020.

In his post, the director indicated that the future film will be directed by Eli Roth, known for the films “The Green Hell,” “Who’s There,” “Death Wish” and the TV series “Hemlock Grove.” The author became famous for creating works rated “R” (for adults only) during the craze for films in the PG-13 category. He was probably chosen to reflect the series' signature madness in the Borderlands film. Lionsgate and Arad Productions are responsible for the production of the film.

Shortly after posting the message on Twitter, Randy Pitchford deleted it. Apparently, the director made the announcement prematurely or Gearbox Software changed plans. Let us remind you that the PAX East 2020 exhibition, which should reveal new details about the Borderlands film, will be held in Boston from February 27 to March 1.
