Solutions can be developed in three directions:

  • Accessible city. Accessible urban environment (including for people with limited mobility), support for older people and people with disabilities.
  • Zero waste city. Transition to a circular economy. Efficiency and transparency of waste collection, removal and disposal, resource reuse, environmental monitoring, environmental education.
  • Open City. Collection, storage, processing and provision of data to meet the needs of city services, the business community, citizens and tourists.

To help develop solutions, experts on city services from other cities and countries, as well as technology experts in areas that can be applied (IoT, Big Data, Predictive Analytics, AI, GIS and GPS, Web and Mobile) will come to Nizhny Novgorod.
The result of the hackathon will be the creation of prototypes of IT services and products that will make the lives of people in the city more comfortable, and the best solutions will receive support for development!

You can come with a ready-made team or join the team on site.

Some tips from the author of this mini-post - how to use your hackathon time profitably?

  • Think in advance about which topic topic is closest to you. Collect information, study Russian and foreign experience. Write down the main ideas that inspired you - don’t rely on your head, everything will fall out at the most inopportune moment.
  • Take with you a laptop, smartphone(s), backup Internet access point (whistle or package tariff on a mobile phone), chargers. The most annoying thing is when, in the heat and heat of development, something is suddenly cut off and stops working.
  • Try to look at the problem from different angles: as a resident, as a consumer of a service-product-project, as city authorities - there should be no conflict of interest or, for example, violations of anything (traffic regulations, laws, administrative rules).
  • Quickly check whether the idea has already been implemented - who hasn’t happened to you when you start development crazy and inspired and - oops! - everything was invented before us.
  • If you work as a team, assign roles and responsibilities in advance. All jokes aside, take someone with you who will ensure the vitality of the team: carry tea and water, charge devices, communicate with the organizers and simply act as an β€œamateur critic.” Such people are priceless.
  • Don't forget a couple of pens and a notepad. There are no extra ones, even if they are given out.

And great luck to you! This city needs its own hero :)
