General Motors (GM) has announced a decision to postpone the announcement of the GMC Hummer EV electric pickup truck, which was scheduled to take place on May 20 at its Detroit-Hamtramck plant, due to the novel coronavirus pandemic.
"While we can't wait to show the GMC Hummer EV to the world, we are pushing back the announcement date, which was scheduled for May 20," the company said. Company earlier in the video some details about the capabilities of the GMC Hummer EV, although there is no information about its price, power and range yet. However, Stuart Fowl, communications manager for GMC, told Electrek that the range of the GMC Hummer EV will be "absolutely competitive with other electric pickups that have been announced."
To further stir up interest in the GMC Hummer EV, the company has released a teaser video. Unfortunately, he does not reveal any new details about the new model.
It should be added that, despite the postponement of the announcement of the electric pickup for an indefinite period, the company did not change the timing of its release. Production of the 1000 horsepower pickup is still slated to begin in late 2021.
