The German apologized for bringing in outside help and was also stripped of all points earned to date in the Race at Home Challenge, in which racers use remote simulators instead of real cars. “I didn’t take it as seriously as I should have,” said the 27-year-old as he accepted punishment for his misdeed. - I really regret this, because I know how much work went into this project on the part of the organizers of Formula E. I know my transgression has a bitter aftertaste, but I didn't have any bad intentions."

Professional player Lorenz Hörzing, who played for Daniel Abt, has been disqualified from all future rounds of the separate Challenge Grid. The 15-lap race on the Berlin Tempelhof virtual track was won by Britain's Oliver Rowland for Nissan e.dams; and the Belgian Stoffel Vandoorne (Stoffel Vandoorne), speaking for Mercedes, came second.

During the race, Vandurn expressed his suspicion on his Twitch broadcast that another person was running under the name of Abt. He was supported by two-time real-life champion Jean-Eric Vergne with the following words: “Please ask Daniel Abt to put the Zoom on the next time he drives, because, as Stoffel said, I am almost sure that he's not there".

However, the leader of the real Formula E racing Antonio Felix da Costa (Antonio Felix da Costa) is not particularly concerned about the situation: “It's just a game, guys. We all know Daniel as a fun guy and a joker…”

Formula E did not explain the technical side of the scam, but the-race.com reported that the organizers checked the participants' IP addresses and realized that Abt, who got second place, could not have been driving. The esports competition features regular Formula E drivers competing from their homes alone to please fans during the COVID-19 lockdown. Thanks to the disqualification, Pascal Wehrlein moved up from fourth place to third.
