Google bans dessert names from Android releases

Google company reported on the end of the practice of assigning the names of sweets and desserts in alphabetical order to the releases of the Android platform and the transition to the usual digital numbering. The previous scheme was borrowed from the practice of naming internal branches used by Google engineers, but caused a lot of confusion among users and third-party developers. Thus, the currently developed edition Android Q is now officially named Android 10 and the next release will initially be promoted as Android 10.1 or Android 11.

The announcement also notes that the next milestone of popularity has been overcome - Android is now used on more than 2.5 billion active devices. At the same time, an updated project logo is presented, in which instead of the full image of the robot, only its head is used, and the text is displayed in a different font and in black instead of green.
