Google Unveils Rocky Linux Build Optimized for Google Cloud

Google has published a build of the Rocky Linux distribution, which is positioned as an official solution for users who used CentOS 8 on Google Cloud, but were faced with the need to migrate to another distribution due to the early termination of maintenance of CentOS 8 by Red Hat.

Two system images have been prepared for booting: a regular one and a specially optimized one for maximum network performance in a Compute Engine environment. Commercial support is also now available for Rocky Linux users on the Google Cloud, provided by Ctrl IQ, a Rocky Linux development support company established by the founder of the project.
