Developers from Google published a message on Twitter, according to which the search engine is currently experiencing problems with indexing new content. This leads to the fact that in some cases users cannot find materials published recently.
The problem was identified yesterday, and it is most clearly demonstrated if you select the display of records for the past hour in the search filter. When trying to search for content published in the last hour by the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal, the system reportedly does not display any results. At the same time, if you make a request without additional filter parameters, then the search engine will display older content that was published earlier.
We're currently experiencing indexing issues that may cause stale search results in some cases. We'll update this thread when we can provide more information.
As a result of the problem, search engines using Google do not receive fresh news in a timely manner. Not all new content is indexed by the search engine, but this is not the only similar problem Google has had in recent times. At the beginning of last month, network sources wrote about problems with page indexing. There was also a recent issue with the indexing of content displayed in Google News Feeds due to the difficulty that crawlers have in choosing the correct canonical URL.
Regarding the current issue, the Google Webmasters development team acknowledged the issue and said that more information about the incident will be published as soon as possible.
