Google expands R&D center in Taiwan

Google has expanded its device research and development center in Taiwan as its product ecosystem grows in importance to the company. This was reported by Nikkei Asia with reference to a Google representative. β€œTaiwan is home to Google's largest research and development center outside the United States. As of 2024, we have increased our workforce in Taiwan 10 times over the past 20 years, and our team continues to grow. <..> We're really serious about building an ecosystem,” said Elmer Peng, Google's vice president of hardware engineering. The company is increasing its equipment development resources in Taiwan due to its strong supply chain and skilled workforce. Google's local unit employs "thousands" of people from more than 30 countries - Mr. Peng did not give an exact number.
