Google has expanded the capabilities of branded security keys in iOS

Google today announced W3C WebAuth support for Google accounts on Apple devices running iOS 13.3 and later. This improves the usability of Google hardware encryption keys on iOS and allows more types of security keys to be used with Google accounts.

Google has expanded the capabilities of branded security keys in iOS

With this innovation, iOS users have been able to use the Google Titan Security Key with NFC to log into their personal account. USB dongles like the YubiKey 5Ci can also be used with iOS devices, but you'll need Apple's Lightning to USB Camera adapter to do so. Dongles with Type-C connector can be connected directly to iOS devices with the corresponding connector, such as iPad Pro.

According to Google, using the Security Key provides much more reliable protection of account access than two-factor authentication, since access to the account in this case can only be obtained using a physical key, and not using a simple digital code that experienced hackers can pick up.
