Google believes that a digital assistant will be useful when it can understand people, places and events that are important to a particular user. In the coming months, Assistant will be able to better understand all of these references through Personal Connections. For example, after the user tells Assistant which contact in the address book is Mom, they can ask about more natural things, such as: "What's the weather like at Mom's house this weekend?" Or, "A week before my sister's birthday, remind me to order flowers." A person will always be in control of their personal information and at any time can add, edit or delete information on the “You” tab in the Assistant settings.
In general, the Google Assistant will better understand users and be able to offer more helpful tips. Later this summer on smart displays like new there will be a feature called "Selects for You" that will collect personalized offers, starting with recipes, events and podcasts.
