Google broke the Gboard keyboard

The Gboard virtual keyboard app is rightfully considered one of the best in its category. However, the latest update seems to have issues that have broken the keyboard. It is reported, that on social networks users complain about keyboard failures. In some cases, it was not even possible to unlock the devices because the system was throwing an error. Only those who have a fingerprint scanner or an appearance recognition system on their smartphones are lucky.

Note that rebooting does not help in this case, and the solution is to remove the keyboard and then reinstall it. Another option would be to install a third-party keyboard from the Play Store in your web browser. A good alternative is SwiftKey from Microsoft. Or you can use the native Android keyboard. As a last resort, you can connect a physical one (of course, if this function is supported).

In addition, you can try clearing the data and data cache, although in this case the settings will be lost.

Note that the problem occurs on Xiaomi smartphones, as well as on ASUS ZenFone 2. Perhaps on some other models. But the Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ did not have this problem. Considering that Xiaomi smartphones are built on ARM processors, and ZenFone 2 is based on Intel, the problem is clearly not in the architecture.

In general, it is recommended to have a spare keyboard and, if possible, reinstall the application or clear its settings.
