U.S. President Donald Trump slipped the tongue when he said that Google was developing a nationwide site for samples and test results from all coronavirus patients — for now, it's just the Verily team's pilot project for the San Francisco Bay Area. However, there was a certain amount of truth in the president's words.
In a series of clarifying tweets, Google said it is working with the US government to create a nationwide website that will provide information about COVID-19 symptoms, risks, and testing information. The company described the project as separate from Verily's efforts and other coronavirus outreach efforts.
The Internet giant said it fully agrees with the government and is helping to fight the spread of COVID-19. However, Google did not explain why its plans for the site for the United States differ markedly from the official statements of Mr. Trump.
