Google in Russia faces a fine of up to 700 thousand rubles

It is possible that a large fine will be imposed on Google in our country for failure to comply with the law. This, as reported by TASS, was stated by Alexander Zharov, head of the Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technologies and Mass Communications (Roskomnadzor).

We are talking about compliance with requirements regarding filtering of prohibited content. In accordance with current legislation, search engine operators are required to exclude links to Internet pages with prohibited information from search results.

To comply with the requirements, search engines must connect to the Federal State Information System (FSIS), which contains a list of prohibited resources. Currently, search engine operators Yandex, Sputnik, Mail.ru, Rambler are connected to FSIS.

As for Google, the company reportedly does not properly filter content banned in Russia. And therefore the IT giant faces a fine of up to 700 thousand rubles.

“I think that by the end of July all the formal procedures will have been completed - drawing up a protocol, inviting a company representative to attend the protocol. We strive to ensure that the law is executed, and not to impose fines,” said Mr. Zharov.
