Google has unveiled four new features to help users get the most out of their smart TVs, even when internet connectivity is limited or inconsistent.

The first function, called Data Saver, will help to significantly reduce the amount of traffic consumed when connecting to the Internet via a mobile connection. According to available data, this approach will increase viewing time by 3 times. The Data Alerts tool is provided to control the data used while watching TV. The feature will be launched in India first, as wired internet in the country is not very good and many people have to use the mobile network.

A tool called Hotspot Guide will help you set up your TV using a mobile hotspot. The Cast in Files feature allows you to view media files downloaded to your smartphone directly on your TV without using up mobile data. All new features will be rolled out to Android TV devices in India soon, after which they will be rolled out globally.
