NVIDIA GeForce MX250 Notebook GPU Available in Two Versions: 30% Performance Difference

In February, NVIDIA announced the GeForce MX230 and MX250 mobile graphics processors. Even then, it was suggested that the older model would exist in two modifications. Now this information has been confirmed.

Let us briefly recall the key characteristics of the GeForce MX250. These are 384 universal processors, a 64-bit memory bus and up to 4 GB of GDDR5 (effective frequency - 6008 MHz).

As it is now reported, laptop developers will be able to choose between versions of the GeForce MX250 codenamed 1D52 and 1D13. For one of them, the maximum value of dissipated thermal energy will be 25 W, for the other - 10 W.

It is noted that the difference in performance between these GPU options will be very significant - at the level of 30%. That is, the 10-watt model will be inferior in terms of performance to its older brother by about a third.

Unfortunately, it will not be easy for ordinary buyers to find out which version of the GPU is used in a laptop computer. The fact is that manufacturers will only indicate the GeForce MX250 markings, while to determine a specific modification you will have to run test software and (or) study the configuration of the video subsystem in detail.
