HP Omen X 27 240Hz QHD Gaming Monitor with FreeSync 2 HDR

HP has introduced the new Omen X 27 monitor, which is an improved version of the previously released Omen 27 display. The novelty is also designed for use in advanced gaming systems, and differs from its predecessor primarily in a higher refresh rate.

The Omen X 27 gaming monitor is based on a 27-inch TN+Film-type panel with QHD resolution (2560 Γ— 1440 pixels) and a refresh rate of 240Hz. Pixel response time is as low as 1ms (with OverDrive technology). Also used in the Omen X 27, the panel features a 1000:1 contrast ratio, a maximum brightness of 400 nits (with HDR activated), and 3% DCI-P90 color space coverage. Viewing angles are typical for a TN panel: 170 and 160 degrees horizontally and vertically, respectively.

Separately, we note that the Omen X 27 monitor supports AMD FreeSync 2 HDR technology, which is responsible not only for frame synchronization and elimination of image tearing, but also provides high dynamic range (HDR) image output. Interestingly, the regular Omen 27 supports competing NVIDIA G-Sync technology and is not capable of HDR output.

The set of video connectors on the rear panel includes two HDMI 2.0 ports and one DisplayPort 1.4. Through the latter, the image is output at a frequency of 240 Hz. HP also equipped the Omen X 27 with a pair of USB 3.0 ports and a 3,5mm headphone jack. The monitor stand allows you to adjust its angle and height.

The HP Omen X 27 Gaming Monitor will be available next month for a US MSRP of $650.
