Gradually, AMD Ryzen processors are being used in an increasing number of computers, including in ultra-compact form-factor (UCFF) desktop systems. Another new product of this kind is the HP ProDesk 405 G4 mini-PC, designed for office use.
The new product has dimensions of 177 × 175 × 34 mm and weighs 1,26 kg. The basic version of the ProDesk 405 G4 mini-PC is built on a dual-core Athlon Pro 200GE processor, while more advanced modifications will offer quad-core Ryzen 3 Pro 2200GE and Ryzen 5 Pro 2400GE chips. Graphics processing in the ProDesk 405 G4 is handled by integrated Vega 3, Vega 8 and Vega 11 graphics processors, respectively. There are no versions with discrete graphics, and there is no need for it in systems of this kind.
The maximum amount of RAM in the ProDesk 405 G4 reaches 32 GB. Used DDR4 memory with a frequency of 2933 MHz. And for data storage, either a 1 TB hard drive or a solid-state drive with an NVMe interface with a capacity of 128 to 512 GB, or a combination of both, is provided. The total power consumption of the system does not exceed 65 W, and an external adapter is used for power.
There are also Wi-Fi 802.11ac and Bluetooth wireless adapters from Intel or Realtek. The Realtek RTL8111EPH gigabit controller is responsible for wired network connections. The ProDesk 405 G4 also has six USB 3.0 ports and one USB 3.1 Type-C (optional). To connect a monitor there is DisplayPort 1.2, and optionally available HDMI 2.0 or D-Sub (pictured above). There are also 3,5 mm jacks for headphones and microphone. Installation of a serial port and other connectors is also offered as an option.
Designed as a productivity tool first and foremost, the HP ProDesk 405 G4 boasts DASH support, TPM 2.0, and HP Sure Click and BIOSphere technologies to provide protection against common types of attacks. The HP ProDesk 405 G4 will go on sale next month starting at $499.
