HTC Unveils U20 5G: Snapdragon 765G Almost Flagship for $640

It finally happened: after a long wait, HTC introduced a new flagship in the form of the U20 5G. Unfortunately, belonging to the U-series, as well as the mention of 5G in the name, may mislead someone regarding the characteristics of the device. In fact, the device is not equipped with a flagship single-chip system - the Snapdragon 765G chip. And the other parameters here do not reach the level of a real flagship.

The device supports dual mode operation in 5G networks. There is only a version with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. The phone is equipped with a 6,8-inch FHD+ screen (2400 Γ— 1080) with perforation for a 32-megapixel front camera with f/2 aperture. Under the hood there is a 4850 mAh battery with support for high-speed charging Qiuck Charge 4.0.

The quad camera on the rear panel is represented by a 48-megapixel f/1,8 main module, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle module, as well as a 2-megapixel macro lens and a 2-megapixel sensor to create the effect of shallow depth of field. The camera supports shooting in portrait mode, recording 4K video and many other functions familiar to us today. By the way, the traditional fingerprint recognition module is also located on the back, which has not been common practice in modern flagships for a long time.

The HTC U20 5G measures 171,2 x 78,1 x 9,4 mm and weighs 215,5 grams. The device runs on the Android 10 operating system and is sold in two color options: dark green and white. So far, the smartphone has gone on sale only in Taiwan for 18 Taiwan dollars (about $990). If the device performs well in its native market, it will appear in other countries, but the characteristics and price, unfortunately, raise doubts about this.
