In the third quarter of this year, the Chinese smartphone market shrank by 5% year on year. Compared to the previous two quarters, the market decline was more moderate. Analysts believe that the decline in the Chinese smartphone market will continue to slow in the fourth quarter of 2019. In general, there are signs of positive dynamics. Experts predict that a complete recovery of the Chinese smartphone market will occur in 2020.

The report also said that the main drivers of market recovery in the second half of this year are two factors: increased sales through online channels and the beginning of commercial use of fifth generation (5G) communications networks. Despite the ongoing decline in the smartphone market, in the online sales segment everything does not look so critical. The report states that online smartphone sales channels accounted for about 27% of the total number of devices sold in China during the reporting period. There is a slight increase in numbers, as online sales accounted for only 24% of the market in the first quarter.
