This funding is part of a joint program of Huawei's own R&D centers in Ireland and Sweden. This four-year project will start in early 2020. It will bring together researchers from the University of Limerick (UL), where SFI Lero is headquartered, Trinity College Dublin, the Irish National University and Dublin City University.

“As a company with a long track record of research-driven innovation, we look forward to working with Huawei on this program,” said Lero Director Professor Brian Fitzgerald (pictured above).

According to the plans of Lero and Huawei, the alliance will prepare a number of advanced research projects in the field of software development, followed by special knowledge transfer workshops and publications in major journals. In August, Huawei announced its intention to invest €70 million in research and development in Ireland over the next three years.
