Huawei promises refunds for smartphones if Google and Facebook apps stop working

Not so long ago, the founder and CEO of the Chinese Huawei Ren Zhengfei (Ren Zhengfei) рассказал that sales of the company's smartphones fell by 40%. In monetary terms, the fall in smartphone sales could result in losses of $30 billion.

In order to somehow slow down the decline in smartphone sales, the Chinese company has developed a guarantee program that promises to refund the full cost of Huawei smartphones if popular applications stop working on devices, including the Google Play Store, WhatsApp, Facebook, YouTube, Gmail, Instagram, etc. The warranty is valid if the previously mentioned applications stop working on Huawei smartphones within two years from the date of purchase.

Huawei promises refunds for smartphones if Google and Facebook apps stop working

Huawei Central said in a statement that the company is ready to fully reimburse buyers if Google and Facebook applications stop working on purchased smartphones. It is worth noting that this “special guarantee” is currently only valid in the Philippines. Thus, the Chinese manufacturer is trying to slow down the decline in smartphone sales and increase customer confidence. Representatives of Huawei confirmed the introduction of a "special guarantee" and said that this initiative came from distributors with which Huawei cooperates. Considering that sales of smartphones from the Chinese company continue to decline, in the future, the “special warranty” may become relevant for the markets of different countries.

Recall that in the first quarter of 2019, Huawei was in second place in smartphone sales, second only to Samsung. Currently, the Chinese vendor has moved to third position, losing second place to Apple. In recent years, Huawei has shown steady growth, which is gradually coming to an end. However, the company's management expects that the company will be able to resume growth in 2021.
