Huawei introduced new flagships in the face of P30 and P30 Pro

Huawei has finally unveiled its new flagship smartphones P30 and P30 Pro. Looking ahead, it can be noted that most of the rumors were confirmed. Both devices have the same still very advanced 7nm HiSilicon Kirin 980 chip that we already saw in last year's Huawei Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro. It includes 8 CPU cores (2 × ARM Cortex-A76 @ 2,6 GHz + 2 × ARM Cortex-A76 @ 1,92 GHz + 4 × ARM Cortex-A55 @ 1,8 GHz), ARM Mali-G76 graphics core and powerful neuroprocessor (NPU).

The Huawei P30 Pro has a 6,47-inch 2340 × 1080 AMOLED screen slightly curved to the edges, while the P30 has a more modest 6,1-inch bezel-less display with the same resolution. In both cases, under the front 32-megapixel camera (ƒ / 2 aperture, without TOF or IR sensor), small teardrop-shaped cutouts are made at the top.

Perfectionists will notice that both devices still have small “chins” - a thicker bezel than at the top and around the edges. It is also worth noting the fingerprint sensor built into the display, protection against dust and moisture according to the IP68 standard in Huawei P30 Pro. The P30 appears to have received some simpler protection with a 3,5mm audio jack, which the P30 Pro does not have.

The main innovation, of course, concerns the camera. The simpler Huawei P30 model received a triple module, similar to that used in the Mate 20 Pro: 40 + 16 + 8 MP with an aperture of ƒ / 1,8, ƒ / 2,2 and ƒ / 2,4, respectively. Each lens has its own focal length, so one gives you a 40x optical zoom and the other gives you an ultra-wide angle of view. The main camera has a resolution of 1,6 megapixels (ƒ / 40 aperture, optical stabilizer, phase detection autofocus), while it is equipped with a new SuperSpectrum sensor, which does not use RGB photodiodes, but RYB (red, yellow and blue). The manufacturer notes that this type of sensor is capable of receiving 40% more light than traditional RGB, which should make it more effective in low light conditions. The other two sensors are traditional RGB. Optical stabilizers are used in the main (8 megapixel) and telephoto module (XNUMX megapixels). All lenses support phase detection autofocus.

But in Huawei P30 Pro, the rear camera is much more interesting. It uses a bunch of four cameras. The main one is the same 40-megapixel (ƒ / 1,6 aperture, optical stabilizer, phase detection autofocus), as in the P30.

The 8-megapixel telephoto module (ƒ / 3,4, RGB) is also very curious - despite the relatively weak aperture, it provides a 10x optical zoom (in relation to a widescreen camera) due to a periscope-like design and a mirror. An optical module is responsible for stabilization, supplemented by an electronic one with the active use of AI, autofocus is supported.

There is also a wide-angle 20-megapixel camera (RGB, ƒ / 2,2) and, finally, a depth sensor - a TOF (Time of flight) camera. It helps to more accurately blur the background when shooting portraits and videos, as well as apply other effects. Both smartphones have various intelligent modes, including night with multi-frame exposure and intelligent stabilizer.

In terms of memory, the P30 Pro has 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, while the P30 has 6GB and 128GB respectively. In both cases, you can expand the capacity of the built-in storage using nanoSD memory cards (for this, however, you will have to sacrifice the second nano-SIM card slot).

The Huawei P30 has a 3650mAh battery and support for SuperCharge wired charging up to 22,5W. Huawei P30 Pro, in turn, received a 4200 mAh battery and SuperCharge with a power of up to 40 W (capable of filling 70% of the charge in half an hour), and also supports wireless charging up to 15 W, including reverse, to recharge other devices.

The back side of both devices is covered with curved glass, and two color versions are offered: “Light Blue” (with a gradient from pink to sky blue) and “Northern Lights” (gradient from dark blue to ultramarine). Live it looks pretty impressive. Both devices are preinstalled with the Android 9.0 Pie mobile operating system with the proprietary EMUI version 9.1 shell on top.

Global sales of new products have already begun, Huawei P30 costs 799 euros, Huawei P30 Pro is available in three versions that differ in memory size: 128 GB version costs 999 euros, 256 GB version costs 1099 euros, 512 GB version costs 1249 euros.
