The product received the designation MH5000. It is based on the advanced modem Huawei Balong 5000, which allows data transmission in cellular networks of all generations - 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G.

Below 6 GHz, the Balong 5000 chip delivers theoretical download speeds of up to 4,6 Gbps. In the millimeter wave spectrum, the throughput reaches 6,5 Gbps.

The MH5000 automotive platform will help advance self-driving vehicles in general and the C-V2X concept in particular. The concept of C-V2X, or Cellular Vehicle-to-Everything, involves the exchange of data between vehicles and road infrastructure facilities. This system will improve safety, save fuel, reduce emissions of harmful gases into the atmosphere and improve the overall transport situation in large cities.

Huawei expects to start commercializing 5G automotive solutions in the second half of this year.
