Analysts at International Data Corporation (IDC) believe that the global market for personal computing devices will begin to recover after the impact of the coronavirus no earlier than next year.
The released data covers shipments of desktop systems and workstations, laptops, two-in-one hybrid computers, tablets, as well as ultrabooks and mobile workstations.
At the end of this year, as predicted, total shipments of these devices will amount to 360,9 million units. This would correspond to a fall of 12,4% compared to last year.
Desktop systems, including workstations, will account for 21,9% of total shipments. Another 16,7% will be made up of regular laptops and mobile workstations. The share of ultrabooks is projected at 24,0%, two-in-one devices - 18,2%. Finally, another 19,2% will be tablets.
Between now and 2024, the CAGR (compound annual growth rate) is projected to be just 1,3%. As a result, in 2024, total supplies of personal computer devices will amount to 379,9 million units. However, actual growth is expected only in the segments of ultrabooks and two-in-one computers.
