ASUS ROG Zephyrus S GX701 gaming laptop is the first in the world with a 300Hz screen, but this is just the beginning

ASUS is among the first to bring high refresh rate displays to the gaming laptop market. So, it was the first to launch 120Hz laptops in 2016, the first to launch a mobile PC with a 144Hz monitor, and then the first to launch a 240Hz laptop this year. At IFA, the company was the first in the industry to showcase laptops with display frequencies of up to an impressive 300Hz.

Presented at CES 2019 The ASUS ROG Zephyrus S GX701 laptop, designed specifically for avid gamers and esports players, will be the first in the world to feature a display with a refresh rate of up to 300Hz and a 3ms GtG response time. The machine in this configuration will be available in October 2019. In addition, similar LCDs with a 300Hz refresh rate and 3ms response time were shown at IFA in the ROG Zephyrus S GX502 prototypes, as well as the 15-inch and 17-inch ROG Strix Scar III models.

ASUS does not disclose the manufacturer of its 300Hz 3ms panels, although it is highly likely that the company is using panels with a 240Hz refresh rate in boost mode. It is worth noting that the ROG Zephyrus S GX701 and ROG Zephyrus S GX502 with 240Hz matrix “performance” must be equipped with factory Pantone-verified calibration displays, so not only gamers, but also professionals using color-critical software should evaluate the systems.

The updated ASUS ROG Zephyrus S GX701 computer uses a 6-core Intel Core i7-9750H processor and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Max-Q graphics accelerator for ultra-thin laptops - it supports overclocking up to 1230 MHz at 100 W in Turbo mode. Also added the ability to charge via USB-C. The laptop is equipped with up to 32 GB of DDR4 2666 MHz memory and two NVMe SSDs up to 1 TB each. Also, the laptop must support NVIDIA G-Sync frame synchronization technology, although with such a fast display there is not much point in this. The dimensions of this 17-inch model are 398,8 × 271,8 × 18,8 mm, which is more typical for 15-inch laptops.
