GNU Assembly initiative promoting a new GNU project management model

A group of maintainers and developers of the various GNU projects, most of whom had previously advocated moving away from the sole leadership of Stallman in favor of collective management, founded the GNU Assembly community, through which they attempted to reform the GNU project management system. The GNU Assembly is presented as a platform for collaboration among GNU package developers who work for user freedom and share the proposed vision of the GNU project.

The GNU Assembly is positioned as a new home for GNU developers and project maintainers who are unhappy with the current governance organization. The governance model of the GNU Assembly has not yet been finalized and is under discussion. The organization of governance in the GNOME Foundation and Debian is considered as reference models.

Among the key principles of the project is the transparency of all processes and discussions, collective decision-making based on consensus and adherence to a code of conduct that welcomes the diversity of participants and friendly interaction. The GNU Assembly welcomes all participants, regardless of their gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, professional level, or any other personal characteristics.
