Intel Corporation, according to Internet sources, is in talks to acquire Moovit, a company specializing in the development of solutions in the field of public transport and navigation.
Israeli startup Moovit was formed in 2012. Initially, this company was called Tranzmate. The company has already raised over $130 million for development; investors include Intel, BMW iVentures and Sequoia Capital.
Moovit offers a mobile app and web tool for real-time route planning. At the same time, navigation is provided for various public transport, including buses, trolleybuses, trams, trains, subways and ferries. The Moovit platform is already available to more than 750 million users in 100 countries around the world.
So, it is reported that Intel is close to closing a deal to acquire Moovit. The processor giant is allegedly ready to pay $1 billion for the Israeli company.
The parties themselves do not officially report anything about the negotiations. But people familiar with the matter, who wished to remain anonymous, say the companies could announce the signing of the deal soon.
