Intel is preparing a high-performance mobile graphics Iris Xe Max

In early September, Intel introduced not only the 10nm Tiger Lake mobile processor family, but also updated logos for a number of its products. Among them, the trademark "Iris Xe Max" flashed in the commercial, which may be related to the most productive version of mobile graphics presented this season.

Intel is preparing a high-performance mobile graphics Iris Xe Max

Recall that the Intel Core i7 and Core i5 processors of the Tiger Lake family received integrated graphics of the Iris Xe series, which in the maximum configuration is equipped with 96 execution units. In the video on the Intel website, you can see the Intel Iris Xe Max Graphics logo, which is in no way tied to a specific series of central processors. Site representatives PC World managed to get confirmation from Intel employees that the company is indeed preparing for the announcement of a certain product with the designation Iris Xe Max, but details about it will be announced later.

If you remember, at the beginning of the month, Intel just as purposefully announced its intention to introduce the discrete mobile graphics DG1 by the end of the year, which is unified with the integrated graphics of the Iris Xe family not only in terms of architecture, but also in terms of the number of execution units. At least the early DG1 designs also offered no more than 96 execution units.

Apparently, it is the DG1 that will receive the designation β€œIris Xe Max” in its serial implementation, because the code name β€œDG1” is a simple abbreviation for the phrase β€œDiscrete Graphics” (English discrete graphics), and the serial number β€œ1” indicates the sequence in which this decisions regarding more productive discrete relatives. If Iris Xe Max remains an integrated graphics solution within the CPU, then Intel could boost graphics performance by increasing the clock speed relative to existing Iris Xe variants.
